Moon City Garden Club was established in 2002 by a small group of gardening enthusiasts located in Springfield's Historic Midtown. Club founder, Russ Bowe, explains the club was established for two reasons, "to help beautify the Midtown area of Springfield and also to give members the chance to share their ideas, knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm about gardening and garden landscape".

The Club hosts an annual spring garden tour showcasing the yards and gardens of Springfield's largest historic district. Operating as a non-profit organization, the club uses proceeds to enhance landscapes and streetscapes in the Midtown community.

Membership is open to first time gardeners, seasoned gardeners, and all gardeners in between!
